European Investment Empowerment 2023| The European Investment Bank called for Social Innovation Tournament 2023, The winning projects in the General Category and the Special Category will be awarded a first or second prize of €100 000 and €40 000 respectively.

  • The Audience Choice Award of €10,000 will be decoded by the public, based on their votes.

The Social Innovation Tournament recognises and supports the best European impact entrepreneurs. It promotes innovative ideas and rewards initiatives that contribute to creating social, ethical and/or environmental impact. Typically, it covers projects in the areas of education, healthcare, the environment, circular economy, climate change, sustainable cities, blue and green economy, inclusion, job creation, ageing and many more.

The tournament runs in two rounds:

  •  General Category
  •  Special Category

The Tournament runs in two rounds: proposals submitted by the deadline for submission, 23 February, 23:59 CET in 2023, will be screened and up to 15 finalists will proceed to the second round.

The finalists will be invited to present their proposals at a Deep Dive Pitches event and Spark Moments event (to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on 27-28 September 2023) where the winners will be selected and prizes awarded.

The Tournament target specific fields

The Tournament aims at making a positive impact on people’s lives. It covers projects in a wide range of fields, from education and healthcare to natural or urban environment, and from new technologies to new systems and new processes. Improvements in these fields are critical to business success, and social innovation can have a substantial societal impact

In 2023, the Special Category 1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded to projects addressing the topic of sustainable cities and communities

Eligibility:

  • The Tournament is open to individuals or teams from (or residing in) the European Union Member States
  • Candidate, Potential Candidate and EFTA countries,
  • Candidates of the above countries mentioned must submit proposals to be implemented
  • Only Candidates who submitted proposals in English will be accepted and also all interviews and pitches will be in English.
  • In order to validate the decision, candidates will need to provide us with proof of their nationality or residency in one of the above-mentioned country (a copy of their ID, passport or residence permit).

Requirement:

The application package should include:

  • The completed application form (Word file).
  • The financial template (Excel file).
  • A scheduled interview. All applicants must complete a seven-minute video interview before they can enter the first round.
  • A high definition photo/image related to your project and logotype.
  • 3-slide power point presentation

Application Process:

Your application package is complete and your application is validated when you have:

  • completed the application form: download the application form here.
  • filled out the Financial Template (excel): download the financial template and explanatory note here.
  • scheduled your 7-minute interview (time slots are available on working days from 9 to 23 March).
  • submitted the full application package to institute@eib.org (deadline: February 23, 2023 23:59 CET). Documents sent separately will not be taken into consideration and therefore the application will be considered incomplete.
