Admission

Fresh Man Requirement

A traditional beginning freshman applicant is evaluated on ACT/SAT score (if taken), high school cumulative grade point average (GPA), class rank, and high school core curriculum courses. We offer test-optional admission and superscore the ACT and SAT.

*Summer/Fall 2020 – Freshman & Transfer Domestic Undergraduate
*A paper application is also available.

The undergraduate application for admission is used to determine academic scholarship eligibility. No separate application is required. The undergraduate fall semester early admission consideration and scholarship guarantee deadline is December 1. You are encouraged to submit your application by this date for full admission and scholarship consideration.

Transfer Student

Criteria for Admission

  • Application for Admission
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Cumulative 2.0 college GPA
  • 24 or more academic, transferable college hours or meet beginning freshman admission requirements

International Student

  • Students will have the option to begin their program online with the intent to come to campus to finish their degree as soon as it is possible.
    • If you’ve already submitted an application: You will be sent an email once you are admitted with instruction on how to choose this option.
    • If you have not submitted an application yet: You can choose this option in the online application by choosing the “Web Only” campus, then answering “Yes” to the question that follows about their intent to complete their program at Southeast’s Main Campus in beautiful Cape Girardeau.
  • Admission decisions can be made for first-time undergraduate and graduate applicants with unofficial transcripts and test scores. (Transfer students, however, will still be required to submit official documents.
  • We are now accepting the results of in-person tests such as GRE, GMAT, IELTS, and Duolingo.

3. Email your supporting documents

Email international@semo.edu (or reply to the confirmation email you received after you submitted your online application) with a scanned copy of the following items:

    • Passport
    • Academic transcripts
    • Affidavit of Financial Support and Proof of finances
    • Proof of English proficiency Proficiency)
    • Standardized test scores (ACT, SAT, etc.) for scholarship consideration (Optional)

If you are studying in the US, submit the SEVIS transfer eligibility form

To ensure efficiency and timely processing, please try to include all required documents in one email (per student) and provide the student last name, first name and date of birth in the subject line.
