In 1893 till date, the academic record excellent. The school enrols students with programmes both postgraduate and undergraduate studies. Its main campus is at Keene, Texas in United State.
However, students who are National Merit Finalists can get 100% tuition coverage from this university.

Freshmen Admission Requirements
We are delighted that you are interested in applying to Southwestern. There are so many reasons to choose Southwestern – professors who know your name and want you to succeed, a spiritual atmosphere where you can grow in your walk with Jesus and so much more.
Students applying for admission to the University must submit the following materials to the Office of Admissions:
High School Transcript or GED
An official transcript indicating graduation from an accredited secondary school with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
General Education Development (GED) test average score of 500 with no scores below 450.
Texas GED 150-159 subject to committee review. 160 – 200 regular admission.
Southwestern encourages the TEA Recommended High School Program of 26 credits, which will increase a student’s opportunities for success.
- 4 credits of English/Language Arts
- 4 credits of Mathematics, including Algebra I, II, and Geometry
- 4 credits of Science, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- 4 credits of Social Studies, including World History, World Geography, U.S. History, ½ credit Government, ½ credit Economics
- 1 credit of Physical Education
- ½ credit of Speech
- 1 credit of Fine Arts
- 5 ½ credits of Electives
- 2 credits of Foreign Language Studies
ACT or SAT Score
Act minimum composite of 18
SAT ERW and math score of 970
Early Admission
Submit an official transcript with a GPA of 2.75 or more
ACT or SAT must be submitted by May 15 for a merit scholarship, placement and enrollment. Students whose test scores do not meet the minimum requirements may have their admission status changed from Early to Summer Bridge.
Important Dates
March 1: Submit applications to receive priority processing and scholarship consideration for fall.
May 1: Submit your commitment deposit to guarantee placement and priority financial aid processing.
August 1: Last day to apply
Admission Requirements
We are excited that you are considering Southwestern Adventist University – the university that has in faith in your future! Southwestern is called home by students from over 38 countries. From faculty who care about your success to residence hall deans who make you feel at home – Southwestern is known for its friendly campus family. Our students graduate well prepared for success and to meet the challenges of the world around them.
In addition to meeting the freshman or transfer acceptance requirements, an international student must send official copies of all educational documents that are validated by the school or national officials. These should be in the original language, accompanied by a certified English translation.
If English is not your native language please submit one of the following:
- A minimum score on the TOEFL* (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 550 on the paper-based test, or 225 on the computer-based exam, or 75 on the internet-based test or
- IELTS 6.0
- A minimum score of 3.9 on iTEP.
- A minimum score of 80 on the Michigan* test or
- A minimum score of 25 on the SAT critical reading component or
- A minimum score of 17 on the ACT English section or
- Transfer of a minimum of 24 semester credit hours from a college or university where English is the language of instruction.
I-20 requirements
- Copy of current passport information page
- Submit at least 3 recent bank statements that give evidence of income
- Submit the international student deposit of $1000* which includes the $200 residence hall room deposit, and a $100 non-refundable processing fee
- Pre-payment of $6500* for undergraduate students
*If a student is not granted a visa and does not enrol, these funds will be returned minus the processing fee and any transaction fees.
Do not leave your homeland without the following:
- A letter of acceptance from Southwestern Adventist University
- An I-20 from Southwestern Adventist University
- A valid passport and F-1 Visa for travel to the United States of America.
Things you need to complete BEFORE arriving at Southwestern:
- TB Test: Must be done 30 days before arrival to the US
- Meningitis Vaccination: Must be done 30 days before arrival to the US
- Final official transcripts, School Leaving documents, or National Exam Certificate
- If you submitted copies of documents for admission, bring the originals for us to make a certified copy for your file.
- Submit online Residence hall reservation form (Room deposit is included in your international student deposit)
