Tanzania DigiTrade Tourism For Young Women Entrepreneurs 2023 | The DigiTrade Tourism program provides Young Women Entrepreneurs in Tanzania with digital skills and exposure to digital operating models in order for them to grow and build resilience. How to apply

This  6-month program is evident even in our current DigiTrade program where women come in with less digital knowhow and have the most to benefit from the program.

41% of Tanzanian youth cite lack of awareness as a key barrier to digital livelihoods (TYDS, 2020) and limited skills is a key reason for the low use of ICT for (smaller) businesses (ICT Policy Draft, 2003; ICT Commission, 2021). Furthermore, women are less digitally included with women being 20% less likely to use mobile internet compared to men (GSMA, 2020).

This digital gender gap coupled with the fact that tourism is a women intensive sector, with 72% of the workers involved being women (World Bank, 2021),

DigiTrade Tourism’s focus on women in tourism.

Aims: To build capacity through a training on four key areas:

  • Digital marketing
  • Digital branding
  • Cyber-security
  • M-commerce.
