The South African Reserve Bank serves as the nation’s central bank. Following the passage of the “Currency and Bank Act of 10 August 1920” by Parliament, it was founded in 1921 as a direct result of the unusual monetary and financial situations that World War I had brought about.

The aim of the programme is to address the shortage of CAs in the SARB and in the country. Trainees will be given an opportunity to acquire competencies prescribed by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), reinforce prior academic education and develop business acumen, life skills, professional and ethical values.

Eligibility:

To be considered for the programme, candidates must:

  •  Have completed or in the process of completing a SAICA-accredited: (a) Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA); or (b) Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) or an equivalent qualification;
  •  Applicant must have an academic performance record average of at least 60%; and
  • be a South African citizen.

Additional requirements include:

  • strong analytical skills;
  •  good communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • be curious, self-motivated and resilient.
