ÀFMYSD – Bank of Industry Skills Acquisition Program 2024 | The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in partnership with the Bank of Industry invites Nigerian youth to participate in the 2nd National Sixty-Day App Development Challenge. Applicant will win the following prize below:

  • One million Naira each for the top ten winners
  • Business Development Training
  • Laptops
  • 50 FMYSD Participation Certificates
  • Application deadline: 10th of March 2023

The Sixty-Day App challenge is aimed at engaging young Nigerians in designing a mobile application to improve a range of processes and increase the level of accessibility to services available to the citizenry.

With over 2.7 billion smartphone users across the world, it’s no surprise that the mobile app industry is thriving. App usage and smartphone penetration are still growing at a steady rate, without any signs of slowing down in the foreseeable future. This is encouraging news for anyone who owns an app or plans on developing one. This is why the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has decided to encourage our youth through the initiative titled ‘Sixty-Day App Challenge’

Sixty-Day App Challenge Programme Areas:

Apps entered for the challenge must solve a problem within the shortlisted sectors.

  • Agric-tech
  • Edu-tech
  • Fintech
  • Health
  • Sports
  • Telecommunications

In the Sixty-Day App Challenge, there will be 10 App developers who will win One Million Naira each. The goal of 60 Day App challenge is to equip Nigerian youth with basic and advance technological development skills in the digital world

Agric-tech sector covers technologies related to agriculture, such as precision farming, crop monitoring, and irrigation systems. An app idea that solves a problem in this sector could be one that helps farmers optimize their crop yields, identify pests and diseases early, or streamline their irrigation systems

Edu-tech sector covers technologies related to education, such as online learning platforms, virtual classrooms, and educational games. An app idea that solves a problem in this sector could be one that helps students learn more effectively, provides access to high-quality education for underserved communities, or gamifies the learning process.

Health sector covers technologies related to healthcare, such as telemedicine, fitness tracking and disease management. An app idea that solves a problem in this sector could be one that helps people manage their health more effectively, provides access to healthcare for underserved communities, or tracks healthy behaviour.

Sports sector covers technologies related to sports, such as fitness tracking, performance analysis, and sports media. An app idea that solves a problem in this sector could be one that helps athletes optimize their performance, provides access to sports content for underserved communities, or streamlines the process of managing a sports team.

Telecommunications sector covers technologies related to telecommunications, such as mobile networks, internet service providers, and communication tools. An app idea that solves a problem in this sector could be one that helps people stay connected more easily, provides access to communication tools for underserved communities, or streamlines the process of managing a telecom network.

Note: The App Challenge currently allows entries for only mobile apps.

Eligibility for Sixty-Day App Challenge Skills Acquisition Program 2024:

  • Young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35.

How To Apply for Sixty-Day App Challenge Skills Acquisition Program 2024:

There are 3 stages for applicants in the Sixty-Day App Challenge.

  1. Register. Interested applicants sign up on the website. Name and Email required. Learning Starts – links to acquire digital skills are provided.
  2. Proposal. Applicants submit their proposal on the App Challenge website. Certificates of digital skills acquired are required.
  3. App Submission. Applicants submit their developed apps/links online.
