How To Process Admission At NAU

Freshman

You are considered a freshman if you will graduate high school within one year, have earned fewer than 12 college credits since graduating from high school, or are dual-enrolled but have not yet graduated from high school.

You will be offered admission to Northern Arizona University if you have a 3.0 or higher core GPA (based on a 4.0 scale and calculated using only the 16 required core courses below) and have no deficiencies in those core courses.

You will be considered for NAU admission if you have a 2.5 core GPA and you have no more than one deficiency in any two areas of the required courses below. If you have a combination of a math and lab science deficiency, you are not admissible.

June 1, 2020: Enrollment deposit date
Your $350 enrollment deposit secures your place in our incoming class and allows you to apply for on-campus housing. The enrollment deposit is non-refundable after June 1, 2020.

July 1, 2020: Submit transcripts
Have final official transcripts sent from your high school to:

Transfer Student

Transfer students are high school graduates who have enrolled at a college, university or any other institution since graduating from high school and have earned at least 12 college credits.

Transfer up to 90 credit hours

Our 90/30 program allows you to transfer up to 90 college credit hours, then you’ll take the final 30 credit hours with NAU to complete your bachelor’s degree. We’re the only university in the state that will accept 90 transfer credits.

Your application is considered complete and a decision will be made when we receive:

  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended, submitted directly from those institutions (note: opened transcripts or transcripts issued to students are not acceptable)
  • A $25 non-refundable application fee
  • If you are younger than 22, provide a final high school transcript or GED scores, unless you have earned an associate’s degree.
  • If you are 22 or older, provide a posted high school degree or equivalent, or demonstrate the completion of a minimum of 12 transferrable college credits. At least six of those credits should be from academic subjects requiring college-level skill in reading, writing and/or analysis.
