The confirmation was reiterated when he led a delegation of the state ministry for a stakeholders meeting in Abuja on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
The meeting, which had major stakeholders of the Nigerian tourism industry, converged on the auspices of the Director of International Tourism in the Federal Ministry of information and Culture, Mrs Dorathy Duruaku to plan for the 2022 World Tourism Day event to be held in Calabar.
The meeting had in attendance delegations from Nigerian Institute of Hospitality & Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Federation of Tour Operators Association of Nigeria (FTAN), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) etc.
The major highlight of the meeting was the confirmation of the readiness of Cross River State to host the 2022 edition of World Tourism Day. The Cross River State delegation comprised of the Hon. Commissioner, Mr Eric Anderson and the Deputy Director of Tourism, Mr Ojoi Uguana.
It could be recalled that sometime in May 2022, the Honourable Commissioner had engaged the ministry staff on the preparation for the World Tourism Day scheduled to hold in the state. In his words on one of such occasions, he said “we are hitting the ground running with the planning of World Tourism Day, as Cross River State plays host to the Nation on the 27th of September 2022”.
