Afghanistan Education System

Afghanistan Education System| The Afghanistan is of the country in Asia continent, It is located in Central Asia with Iran to the west and Pakistan to the east, Afghanistan has been a difficult country to navigate. Afghanistan has borne the brunt of its unfortunate fate, whether it is political turmoil, financial anxiety, land mine nightmares, constant coups, or recurring wars. However, in order to maintain constant progress, the country has attempted to overcome various problems and has successfully emerged from a variety of situations. Take, for example, its education sector. Education in Afghanistan had never been in better hands until King Zahir Shah arrived and took decisive action.

King Zahir Shah (early to mid-twentieth century) built primary schools for children under the age of 12, as well as strengthened the secondary school system and expanded the number of national universities in Kabul. This was the first step toward laying a stronger educational foundation. Despite the fact that a large portion of the population was still illiterate, it was a risky move.

The country had approximately 800 primary schools, 300 general secondary schools, and approximately 6500 students at Kabul University in the mid-1980s. Such low figures are the result of widespread destruction, which also destroyed up to 80% of schools and colleges. As a result, a large portion of the Afghan generation grew up without any formal education.

Afghanistan’s education sector suffered another setback in 1996. The Taliban regime outlawed female education in Afghanistan and established mosque schools (madrassa) for primary and secondary education.

Afghanistan Education has reached a pinnacle in the twenty-first century. The scenario shifted from “no education for girls” to “separate education for girls.” The girls and women removed their camouflage and enrolled in schools and colleges in 2003. Despite the fact that they shared separate facilities, they were allowed to study. The transition is smooth but firm.

The following are a few of Afghanistan’s well-known universities that have carved out a niche in the education sector::

  • Kabul University
  • American University of Afghanistan
  • National Military Academy of Afghanistan
  • Kabul Institute of Medicine
  • Polytechnic University of Kabul
  • University of Pedagogy

These prestigious universities are home to a large number of illustrious scholars and are growing in popularity by the day. Kabul University currently has 10,000 students, 2000 of whom are females. An educated mind is also one that is enlightened. I hope that the improvements in Afghanistan’s education sector pave the way for a stronger community base.
