The Access ART X Prize awards early-career artists from Africa and its diaspora opportunities to develop their practices, with the intention of setting them up for the highest levels of success on the global stage.This Prize has changed significantly by extending its reach beyond emerging Nigerian artists to include emerging talents from across Africa and its Diaspora.

The African/Diasporan Winner Will Receive:
- Residency at Yinka Shonibare’s GAS Foundation, Lagos
- Exhibition at ART X Lagos 2024
- Support in the form of a $10,000 grant
- An invaluable opportunity for cultural exchange
The Grant includes:
- A materials and production budget of $7,500 (Seven Thousand, Five Hundred US Dollars) or the Naira equivalent (at the Date of Currency Conversion) towards expenses related to each Winner’s Presentation at the Fair, such as art supplies [paint, paper, photo printing costs, printing costs etc], production items/ costs [technological equipment, printing and construction, speakers, plinths, specialist installers, other bespoke exhibition design elements and customisations etc] and other logistics costs [e.g. shipping, insurance, etc]
- A minimum artist honorarium of $2,500 (Two Thousand, Five Hundred US Dollars) or the Naira equivalent (at the Date of Currency Conversion). In the event that there is a balance of the materials and production budget after the 2024 Fair closing, the remainder will be remitted to the respective Winner within 4 weeks after the closing of the 2024 Fair, provided that the Winner shall apply the materials and production budget towards their Presentation in good faith and shall not through any acts or omissions economize unduly in respect of the expenses for their Presentation in order to ensure that there is a remainder or maximize any remainder of the budget.

Artist Bio
Please upload a PDF that contains a description or summary of your life, career and practice leading up to the present moment. Kindly include your educational background (formal or self-taught), recent exhibitions or career highlights, relevant biographical information (where you grew up, where you create your work), and an overview of your artistic practice, interests and portfolio as well as the concepts, materials, or questions which guide your working process. Kindly provide details for 2 references – full name, position/title, email address and phone number in your Bio. Maximum Length:

Please submit a PDF or zipped folder of not more than 200MB containing: a selection of 10 works (images, video links, etc.) as well as a numbered list of the corresponding works. This list must include the Title, Date, Media, Dimensions (Height x Width x Depth, if applicable) or Duration of each work. Motivation Letter
Please upload a PDF with a statement on how as a Nigerian or African/Diasporan Participant, you will maximize either the Gasworks London UK or Yinka Shonibare’s GAS Foundation NG residency opportunity respectively, if selected. Kindly include a summary of your connection to Africa (descent, heritage, lineage or other, etc). Maximum Length: 300 words.
